Socholotiuk drops tough decision in Laval

It wasn’t the decision Matt Socholotiuk was hoping for, but the mixed martial artist from Waterford still went the distance.

Socholotiuk lost by decision Saturday night to Davis dos Santos during the Fight4Pride Championship 3 in Laval, PQ.

“I was unable to get the win tonight but I learned a lot about myself,” Socholotiuk said. “I fought a very tough opponent tonight and only have positive things to take from this.

“I want to thank all my teammates, coaches sponsors, and manager that helped me with this journey,” he said. “This will only fuel the desire to win again. Down but never out.”

The local fighter, who now calls Montreal home, where he trains at Tristar now has a professional record of 2-2 thanks to the loss.

This is the second-consecutive fight where Socholotiuk has gone the distance, beating Domenic Ruccolo after three rounds on November 22, 2014 at Fight4Pride Championship 2.

With the victory, dos Santos, from Aracaju, Sergipe Brazil, gets his first professional win.
